Higher Derivative Corrections, Dimensional Reduction and Ehlers Duality

چکیده
Motivated by applications to black hole physics and duality, we study the effect of higher derivative corrections on the dimensional reduction of four-dimensional Einstein, Einstein-Liouville and Einstein-Maxwell gravity to one direction, as appropriate for stationary, spherically symmetric solutions. We construct a field redefinition scheme such that the one-dimensional Lagrangian is corrected only by powers of first derivatives of the fields, eliminating spurious modes and providing a suitable starting point for quantization. We show that the Ehlers symmetry, broken by the leading R corrections in Einstein-Liouville gravity, can be restored by including contributions of Taub-NUT instantons. Finally, we give a preliminary discussion of the duality between higher-derivative F-term corrections on the vector and hypermultiplet branches in N = 2 supergravity in four dimensions. Duality of N = 2 Heterotic – Type I Compactifications in Four Dimensions ⋆
We discuss type I – heterotic duality in four-dimensional models obtained as a Coulomb phase of the six-dimensional U (16) orientifold model compactified on T 2 with arbitrary SU (16) Wilson lines. We show that Kähler potentials, gauge threshold corrections and the infinite tower of higher derivative F-terms agree in the limit that corresponds to weak coupling, large T 2 heterotic compactificat...
متن کاملRotating mesons in the presence of higher derivative corrections from gauge-string duality
We consider a rotating quark-antiquark (qq̄) pair in N = 4 thermal plasma. By using AdS/CFT correspondence, the properties of this system have been investigated. We study variation of rotating string radius at the boundary as a function of the tip of U-shape string and angular velocity of rotating meson. We also extend the results to the higher derivative corrections i.e. R2 and R4 which corresp...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional Black Holes in a Higher Derivative Gravity and Matrix Model
We construct perturbatively a class of charged black hole solutions in type 0A string theory with higher derivative terms. They have extremal limit, where the solution interpolates smoothly between near horizon AdS2 geometry and the asymptotic linear dilaton geometry. We compute the free energy and the entropy of those solution using various methods. In particular, we show that there is no corr...
متن کامل5D Attractors with Higher Derivatives
We analyze higher derivative corrections to attractor geometries in five dimensions. We find corrected AdS3 × S geometries by solving the equations of motion coming from a recently constructed four-derivative supergravity action in five dimensions. The result allows us to explicitly verify a previous anomaly based derivation of the AdS3 central charges of this theory. Also, by dimensional reduc...
متن کاملEnhanced Coset Symmetries and Higher Derivative Corrections
After dimensional reduction to three dimensions, the lowest order effective actions for pure gravity, M-theory and the Bosonic string admit an enhanced symmetry group. In this paper we initiate study of how this enhancement is affected by the inclusion of higher derivative terms. In particular we show that the coefficients of the scalar fields associated to the Cartan subalgebra are given by we...
